about

Something's Coming - originally to be on Dick Tracy Must Die, then moved to Din of Thieves (which is written but not recorded), the author came to me and said, "You realise, this is part of my head soundtrack for Faerie Blood, right?" To which I said, "No! I did not know that. That's very interesting. Want to talk about a soundtrack album? We could do that." So we did.

lyrics

Something's Coming
(C)2009/2015 Dara Korra'ti/Crime and the Forces of Evil

Something's coming, do you hear it in the wind?
Something's coming, does it shake you to the bone?
Something's coming, do you see it in the sky?
Something's coming, is it here to take you home?
No.

Aren't you watching as your friends turn into silence and
Aren't you speaking as the air turns into stone
Aren't you howling as the gods turn to madness
Aren't you keening as you're going it alone
Do you catch the rustles in the distance?
Do you hear the padding on the stairs?
Do you feel the breathing on your pretty neck
Creeping slowly catching you so unawares?
No.

Something's coming, do you hear it in the wind?
Something's coming, does it shake you to the bone?
Something's coming, do you see it in the sky?
Something's coming, is it here to take you home?
No.

Don't you notice as your friends all turn away
Don't you notice as your allies look aside
Don't you notice as the rules apply to no one
Aren't you counting all the times you've been denied?
Do you catch the rustles in the distance?
Do you hear the padding on the stairs?
Do you feel the breathing on your pretty neck
Creeping slowly catching you so unawares?
No.
Not you.

Won't you look around to what is happening
Won't you see what's going in your life
Won't you hear the turning of the government
Can't you bear to see the shining of the knife?
Did you miss the rustles in the distance?
Did you miss the padding on the stairs?
Did you miss the breathing on your pretty neck?
Were you blind or did you simply want to not
know?

Something's coming, do you hear it in the wind?
Something's coming, does it shake you to the bone?
Something's coming, do you see it in the sky?
Something's coming, is it here to take you home?
What do you think?
I've got a pretty good guess.
I bet you do too.
Let's hear it.
No.
