What else do you really need? If you want hope, if you want to look for a way that's better - this is where you start. This one was led by the music, both at the start - the repeated string pick series was the first part to appear - and at the end, when the bassline just came out of my hands without me really being aware of it until it was happening. (I started climbing the neck of the bass not knowing where it was going, and, well, you hear the result.) The bassline then forced me to up my vocal game.
For a long time. I had been worrying that I'd have to abandon this song as unsingable. Now I know I'm wrong.
There's a section of lyrics in Japanese in the third verse, because there are some things I find easier to say in Japanese than in English. There are a couple of concepts in particular that Japanese has single words for that in English require several words and even if said well have... the wrong resonance to them. They sound forced. So I wrote that part in Japanese, because I could, and because I'm lazy. XD But it's about being drawn to try to find the people like yourself. In this way, it's the opposite side of the feelings expressed in Outbirds - knowing you're the odd one out, but being certain beyond knowledge that there are others like you out there, somewhere.
